1. Environmental Conditions

Temperature Requirements

  • Operating Temperature: 10°C to 35°C (50°F to 95°F)

  • Storage Temperature: -20°C to 45°C (-4°F to 113°F)

  • Avoid: Direct sunlight, proximity to heat sources, or freezing conditions

Humidity Levels

  • Operating Humidity: 20% to 80% relative humidity (non-condensing)

  • Storage Humidity: 5% to 95% relative humidity (non-condensing)

  • Avoid: Bathrooms, kitchens during cooking, or areas with steam/moisture

Environmental Restrictions

  • Indoor use only unless product is specifically rated for outdoor use

  • Keep away from liquids, rain, and moisture

  • Avoid dusty, sandy, or excessively dirty environments

  • Do not use in areas with corrosive gases or chemicals

  • Maintain adequate ventilation around the product

2. Electrical & Power Requirements

3. Physical Handling Guidelines

General Handling

Installation & Placement

  • Place on stable, flat surfaces

  • Ensure adequate clearance for ventilation (minimum 10cm around vents)

  • Do not block air vents or cooling fans

  • Secure cables to prevent tripping hazards

  • Follow manufacturer's mounting instructions for wall-mounted items

4. Usage Guidelines

Intended Use

  • Use products only for their intended purpose

  • Follow manufacturer's instructions and specifications

  • Do not exceed recommended duty cycles

  • Allow cooling periods as specified in user manual

Prohibited Modifications

  • Do not open, modify, or tamper with internal components

  • Do not remove safety labels or serial numbers

5. Maintenance Requirements

Regular Cleaning

  • Clean only with recommended methods (typically dry or slightly damp cloth)

  • Never use harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive materials

  • Keep vents and openings free from dust and debris

  • Clean screens with appropriate screen cleaners only

Preventive Care

  • Perform regular visual inspections for damage

  • Check cables and connections periodically

  • Update software/firmware as recommended

  • Replace consumable parts (filters, batteries) as specified

6. Specific Product Categories

Laptops

  • Use on hard, flat surfaces with adequate airflow (avoid beds, sofas, or fabric surfaces)

  • Never block ventilation ports or cooling vents

  • Operate with an LCD screen at angles between 90-135 degrees

  • Shut down properly; avoid forced shutdowns or hard resets

  • Keep liquids a minimum of 50cm away from the device

  • Use original or certified replacement batteries only

  • Remove battery if storing for extended periods (>30 days)

  • Clean keyboard and trackpad with appropriate electronics cleaners only

Workstations

  • Install in well-ventilated areas with a minimum 15cm clearance on all sides

  • Connect to dedicated power circuits for high-performance models

  • Ensure proper grounding for all components

  • Monitor internal temperatures; maintain below 70°C under load

  • Use only certified ECC RAM if originally specified

  • Do not exceed maximum RAM or storage specifications

  • Run regular diagnostic tests for critical applications

  • Implement proper cable management to maintain airflow

Desktops

  • Place tower units off the floor to minimize dust intake

  • Maintain minimum 10cm clearance around all ventilation areas

  • Clean dust filters monthly or as needed

  • Verify PSU wattage before adding components

  • Do not exceed the motherboard's maximum supported configurations

  • Use anti-static precautions when handling internal components

  • Ensure all expansion cards are properly seated and secured

  • Monitor and maintain positive case airflow

Servers and Server Parts

Servers:

  • Install only in temperature-controlled environments (18-27°C recommended)

  • Require dedicated cooling and ventilation systems

  • Use only in rack-mounted or properly supported configurations

  • Implement redundant power supplies where designed

  • Monitor system logs and health indicators continuously

  • Follow hot-swap procedures exactly as specified

  • Maintain detailed service records and uptime logs

  • Use only server-grade components for replacements

Server Parts (RAM, HDDs, CPUs, RAID Controllers):

  • Store in anti-static packaging when not in use

  • Handle only with proper ESD protection

  • Verify compatibility before installation

  • Do not mix different specifications in arrays or channels

  • Follow manufacturer torque specifications for CPU coolers

  • Initialize and configure RAID arrays before use

  • Test thoroughly after installation (minimum 24-hour burn-in recommended)

  • Keep firmware/BIOS updated to latest stable versions

7. Prohibited Environments

  • Products should NOT be used in:

  • Commercial or industrial settings (unless specified)

  • Vehicles or mobile environments (unless designed for such use)

  • Medical or life-support applications

  • Hazardous locations (explosive atmospheres, chemical plants)

  • Construction sites or renovation areas

  • Areas with excessive vibration

8. Warning Signs of Improper Use

Stop using the product immediately if you notice:

  • Unusual odors, smoke, or excessive heat

  • Visible damage to cords, plugs, or casing

  • Unusual noises or vibrations

  • Error messages or malfunction indicators

  • Water or liquid ingress

  • Physical damage from drops or impacts

9. Compliance
